Why Leal's

The Tamales Your Customers Come Back For

Most tamale companies sell a frozen retail product and call it a wholesale program. We sell tamales the way restaurants need them: fresh, consistent, made to a recipe that doesn't drift. Sysco and Ben E. Keith both authorize us as a supplier, which is another way of saying our quality standards have been verified by people who do that for a living. The masa is family-recipe. The beans and the chicken are lard-free. There are no preservatives in any tamale that leaves this factory. Pickup keeps it that way: every tamale you receive was made within the order window.

Wholesale runs on pickup at 6205 19th Street: your driver, your schedule, your refrigeration. Pay-on-pickup is the default. Net 30 is available for high-volume regulars at Victor's discretion — typically reviewed after a handful of clean orders go through. Standard orders need 48 hours' notice; case-volume orders need one to two weeks; holiday-season orders need six to eight weeks of head time. Leal's Mexican Restaurants has run our tamales in their dining rooms long enough to call it normal, and they're our favorite reference. The first call covers expected weekly volume, varieties, and your kitchen's storage and reheat workflow so we can match production to how you'll actually serve them.

Pay-on-pickup by default. Net 30 terms available for high-volume regular accounts — at Victor's discretion based on order history. Wholesale invoicing is handled separately from the website.

Common Wholesale Questions

What Restaurants Usually Ask First

If your question isn't here, call (806) 780-LEAL and we'll cover it on the first phone call.

What's the minimum wholesale order?

We typically start wholesale relationships at 5 dozen per pickup as the practical minimum. Below that, walk-in retail or DoorDash is usually a better fit. There's no hard upper limit — we've supplied case-volume orders for restaurants across West Texas. Talk to Victor about expected weekly volume and we'll size production accordingly.

How does pickup work?

Your driver pulls up to 6205 19th Street during business hours (Monday through Friday, 11 AM to 9 PM). Orders are bagged and boxed, ready at the factory window on the agreed pickup date. Bring your own refrigeration in the vehicle — tamales need to stay cold from our door to your kitchen.

What payment methods do you accept for wholesale?

Cash, credit card, debit card, and check on pickup are all standard. Net 30 terms are available for high-volume regular accounts at Victor's discretion — usually after a few orders go through cleanly. Wholesale invoicing is handled in Victor's QuickBooks system, separate from the website.

Can I do a custom variety mix?

Yes. Most wholesale accounts run a mix — for example, 60% pork, 30% chicken, 10% bean — to match what their customers order most. Tell us your typical breakdown and we'll prep your order to that ratio. Custom mixes don't change pricing.

What about packaging?

Standard wholesale packaging is dozen-count boxes, sealed for transport. If your kitchen needs different sizing — half-dozen trays, hotel pans, individual portions — let us know on the first call and we'll work out a packaging spec. There's no charge for standard wholesale packaging.

Can you handle holiday surge volume?

Yes, with notice. November and December are our busiest months — every steamer in the kitchen runs full. For wholesale accounts that need lift during the holidays, lock in your case volume by mid-October. Walk-in regulars get squeezed first when production is full, so booking ahead protects your supply.
